Practice Information

Dr. Ian is an expert in the fields of public health, preventive medicine, chronic disease and health promotion.  With over 30 years experience in university, hospital and clinical settings, Dr. Ian's medical practice focuses on the eradication of chronic disease, and not on the management of chronic disease.  Her keen ability to understand and identify the multiple and compounding factors causing today's epidemic in chronic disease is equally matched by her ability to educate her patients about the causes and empower them to make life-long changes to ensure their health, vitality, and creativity.

Dr. Ian's career began as a member of the Public Health faculty of Southern Connecticut State University where she taught Women's Health, Death and Dying, Medical Self-Care and Wellness.  At the same university she was co-director of the annual International Field Study in Public Health to Mexico and Guatemala of which she authored the curriculum.  She was recruited to faculty of Yale-New Haven Medical Center, Department of Obstetrics where she taught classes in Nutrition for a Healthy Pregnancy, Preparation for Childbirth and Vaginal Birth After Cesarean.  While at Yale-New Haven she served on several national task forces for the reduction in the incidence of cesarean surgeries with an emphasis on the appropriate intervention for pain and breech births.  Dr. Ian has served as the Medical Director for Brookfield Integrative Medicine, Wisconsin's first integrative medical clinic.  She is a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society with an emphasis on breast cancer and cancer prevention from environmental triggers.  She is published in professional journals, textbooks, consumer health magazines and newspapers in the field of health promotion and disease prevention.

Dr. Ian holds a Master's degree in Community Health Education from Southern Connecticut State University and a Doctoral degree in Naturopathic Medicine from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences.  Upon graduation she completed her post-doctoral training in Environmental Medicine at the same institution.  She continues Advanced Practice medical education with the Institute of Functional Medicine.
